A Different Kind of Charleston-Area Sailing

Charleston Harbor is beautiful, but it can be busy. If you're looking for a more secluded sailing experience with fewer boats and untouched scenery, Winyah Bay in Georgetown is worth the drive.

GT Sailing Adventures offers private and small-group sailing charters just an hour north of downtown Charleston. Our 43-foot Dufour yacht accommodates up to 6 guests for an intimate experience on one of the most scenic and least crowded waterways on the South Carolina coast.

Why Sailors Love Winyah Bay

Winyah Bay stretches from the historic Georgetown waterfront to the open Atlantic, bordered by undeveloped barrier islands and protected lands like Hobcaw Barony—the former winter retreat of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

The bay's wide channels and steady coastal winds make for excellent sailing conditions without the traffic of busier harbors.

On a typical cruise, you may see dolphins, ospreys, and pelicans. Depending on conditions, we'll pass landmarks like the Harvest Moon shipwreck and offer views of the Georgetown Lighthouse.
