A Sailing Escape Close to Home

Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach are known for their laid-back pace and natural beauty. Just a short drive south, Winyah Bay offers a sailing experience that feels like a natural extension of that same Lowcountry rhythm.

GT Sailing Adventures departs from Georgetown, South Carolina, providing small-group sailing charters on one of the most open and undeveloped stretches of water on the coast. It’s close enough for an easy outing, yet far removed from busy harbors and crowded waterways.

Why Sail on Winyah Bay?

Winyah Bay is one of the largest estuaries in South Carolina, with wide channels, steady coastal winds, and protected waters well suited for comfortable sailing. The bay is bordered by preserved land and barrier islands, including Hobcaw Barony, Cat Island, and North Island.

The setting feels open and unhurried, with long views of shoreline and water that remain largely unchanged. Depending on conditions, sails may pass historic points such as the Harvest Moon shipwreck or offer distant views of the Georgetown Lighthouse.
